TCB, located between the Brunswick Street and Chinatown malls in the heart of Fortitude Valley, is an urban fashion mecca. This edgy retail precinct is home to some of Brisbane's best up-and-coming fashion designers (including Gail Sorronda and Daniel Alexander), plus a series of kiosk-style food and beverage outlets called Licorice Lane. Gail Sorronda - by Gail Reid
Gail Sorronda is a brand already recognised by the Australian fashion industry. In 2004, Reid's graduate collection featured at Australian Fashion Week and most recently she was one of the leading lights at the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2007 and the 2006 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival. She favours black and white and her fabric choices are feminine silk jersey, velvet, georgette and taffeta to create flowing dresses wrapped in billowing capes.
Subfusco - by Joshua Roberta Scacheri
Brisbane-born designer Joshua Scacheri had early aspirations of becoming a professional football player. Fortunately for the fashion world, he became more interested in design, creating Subfusco in 2005. The now well-established menswear label mixes Australian comfort with Italian style.
Vein Wear - by Chris McCallum
McCallum confesses to a great love of leather. From sketch to product, all the shoes in the Vein Wear collection are handmade, lined with leather and superbly finished. They've walked their way down runways at Australian Fashion Week, L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane; can be found in fashion boutiques across Australia and New Zealand, and can be ordered in-store or from the Vein Wear online store.
Daniel Alexander Couture - by Daniel Alexander
Since premiering his menswear collection at Melbourne Fashion Week in 2006, Daniel Alexander has continued to make his mark in the Australian fashion scene. His label, Daniel Alexander Couture, is currently stocked in many stores all over Australia as well as in his recently opened retail boutique in the TCB arcade. His new swimwear range and new label, Daniel Alexander Jr Couture, were also launched in 2008.
Other fashion and beauty stores installed in TCB include Barcode Squared, Shades, Size Design, Paradiso, Booyah Accessories, Noble Hair, Tokidoki and Bitumen.
Food and beverage outlets in TCB include Subway, Espresso Express, PhoB and Thai Wi Rat, as well as Kaliber Cocktail and Lounge Bar.
