It’s a big job to clean up after the storms and residents can take advantage of free green waste drop-off at any of Brisbane City Council’s four transfer stations. (Please note that due to storm damage there are long delays at Ferny Grove and residents are encouraged to use the other stations if at all possible.)

Collect all the branches, tree limbs and other green waste from your yard and then drop it off for free at Nudgee, Willawong or Chandler transfer stations until 6pm every day this week, including the weekend.

Brisbane City Council advises residents not to place large items of green waste into their wheelie bins. Large items of green waste, especially tree limbs, can block the waste collector’s compactor and delay the collection trucks on their daily routes.

Council is working with Energex, State Emergency Services and the Queensland Government and neighbouring councils to assist with the clean-up.

Kerbside collection for storm-affected residents

Brisbane City Council will conduct kerbside collections of storm-damaged household items, green waste and non-perishable items for residents in a number of storm-affected suburbs.

Items are to be placed on the kerb by Sunday 23 November for collection during the week commencing Monday 24 November.

Council officers will collect storm-damaged furniture and white goods, household appliances, carpet and lino, and other wood products. General household perishables will not be collected.

Council would like residents to ensure that when disposing of hard waste or large items like furniture, tiles, bricks, appliances etc that they should be stacked up separately to green waste.

Having hard waste and green waste in separate piles will ensure that the pickup proceeds quickly and that injury and damage to equipment are avoided.

Collections will take place in the following suburbs:

Windsor

  • Northey Street

Bardon

  • Coolibah Street
  • Bardon Bowls Club
  • Fletcher Parade
  • Lugg Street

Red Hill

  • Jason Street
  • Kenwyn Road

Tennyson

  • Tennyson Memorial Avenue, Tennyson

Ashgrove

  • Mossvale Street
  • Quandong Street
  • Anderson Avenue
  • Newmarket Caravan Park

Paddington

  • Beck Street
  • Baroon Road
  • Elizabeth Street

Residents are reminded when putting out items for collection:

  • keep piles tidy on the kerb so the footpath or roadway is kept clear
  • do not leave sharp or dangerous objects
